Every class in the school has a designated "library day." This will remain the same all school year, unless a holiday or special event forces us to reschedule. Please make note of your library day, and send the books back on that day each week.
A library book is considered overdue if it has not been returned or re-checked for two weeks from the check-out date. The answer is... return it ASAP! There are no late charges at WBE, just get it in as soon as you can.
If your library book is DAMAGED, bring it in to show the librarians ASAP. If the damage is fixable, we will get to work on repairing it. If the damage is bad enough, you may have to pay for the book's replacement. It is important to be honest and upfront about any damages you are responsible for. If the book was damaged before you checked it out, point out the damages to the librarian immediately. This way, we can establish that the previous damage was not your fault.
If you LOSE a library book, tell Mrs. LaCaille and she will print out a bill for the cost of the book. Every student at WBE is responsible for their library books and must pay to replace lost or damaged books. Students will not be allowed to check-out library books again until they have arranged to pay for this.
If you need to work out a payment plan, please contact Mrs. Palermo (428-3410)
Water is the biggest culprit when it comes to damaged books and water damage can not be repaired. We strongly urge parents to help their children to put their library books in a gallon Ziploc bag before placing them in their backpack - especially if they carry a water bottle and snacks in their backpack.
Other ways to protect books: Keep library books out of reach of younger children at home; keep books away from pets - especially puppies; keep books inside away from food, water, dirt and rain.
